I meant that if Mattias' voice became lower, he can't sing normally as he sang in "Illuminati" or in other old songs... His real voice became too rough so he m u s t take higher notes otherwise he can't sing adequately...
I think that the voice of "Illuminati" is a middle course, the best one; the lowness produces cacophony and the height is the only acceptable way of singing now....
It's interesting to hear the opinion of the specialists. I just think to create some topics named "How to make Mattias sing higher" and "How to make Mattias take off his beard and moustache" . Thats because the words are not enough to make that. Maybe we can organize BIG poll on English and when mister Lindblom will come to see results (it can be arranged ), seeing 1000/1 to shave at last - he Will do it .

Your Majesty, Generally you can be right, lowering the voice can be a problem to perform songs in same manner as before, so he can jump up. But I would rather agree to Lamia, that it should not affect the power of his voice. If smocking would roughen Mattias’s voice we would rather hear something brutal, smth closer to Dero, frontman of Oomph, who is the owner of perfect powerful wide-ranged voice, quite similar to ‘old’ Mattias.
P.S. Interesting is that we discuss the change of Mattias’ voice in “DVD” topic instead of neighbor topic started by attentive small blue pads of our dearest Mr.Rabbit…

As Morris, I too believe that is just Mattias' choice to sing in a higher tone. I'm sure he could still sing in the old way if he liked to. Normally the voice of a person tends to darkens (= become lower) as he/she grows old. You can hear it in every singer. For example (an example I know of), Celine Dion's voice ten years ago, or even more, 15 years ago, was much much lighter (= higher) that the one she sings with now. If you hear a 2005 recording of Celine's voice, she uses a tonality much more lower than before. And she adapdes the music to her present voice.
So I believe that also Mattias' voice will become darker in the next years. In YWLILUTT he chose to use an higher tone, in my opinion, to fit with the struggling atmosphere of the songs. But I tent to believe that in the future albums he will use different kinds of singing.

But the ol' good songs were just great... Sometime Mattias & Co. were able to make me shiver inside... for Bard's themes and Mattias' voice...
But I also like the much deeper lyrics that they make for YWLILUTT

I didn't speak about the power of Mattias' voice. I do believe that now he can sing as well as he sang years ago, with the same power...
You said that "if smocking would roughen Mattias’s voice we would rather hear something brutal"... It's the same thing I said.... But for do not perform in this "brutal" way, IMHO, Mattias chose "higher" tone of voice otherwise the sound would be cacophonic...
P.S. Hope that dearest Mr. Rabbit don't take offence.... We're just poor mortals who will never reach his rabbit's level...... Hope he's merciful and won't strike us with lightning....

I really prefer more metallic than gothic. Especially in gothic metal.
By losing the faith one can find another for himself. Maybe not god, but himself?..
